Following each
Cursillo "season," we rejoice with the new members of our Cursillo family
at our Fourth Day Celebration. Sponsors, candidates, team members, and
the rest of the community gather to welcome our new brothers and sisters,
and rejuvenate our Fourth Day together. The celebration consists of music,
a few short talks, a mini-ultreya, and fellowship.
REUNION
GROUPS
The sharing
that is begun on a Cursillo weekend is continued and strengthened in weekly
groupings of Christians. We come together to share our lives, pray for
one another, hold each other accountable to living out our rule of life.
If you are a recent Cursillista and are not in a group, contact your sponsor
and tell him or her you would like a reunion group---it is your sponsor's responsibility
to help you get started!
ULTREYA
Ultreya! is
a word that means "ONWARD!" and is a cheer of encouragement. It is a time
when the larger community gathers for fellowship, music, prayer, and sharing.

the diocese!

KAIROS
What is Kairos?
rolmer1@olypen.com
Kairos is an interdenominational Christian ministry whose programs are designed
to be presented in state and federal men's and women's correctional institutions
in the U.S. with adaptations for other countries and languages. This ministry is
governed by the national board of Kairos Prison Ministry, Inc. with headquarters
in Winter Park, Florida. The ministry is conducted, in cooperation with the
chaplains of correctional institutions, by teams of laity and clergy who are
selected, trained and certified by area governing bodies of Kairos and approved
by correctional institutions as citizen volunteers.
Kairos Prison Ministry is a ministry by persons drawn from a broad range of
denominational churches. Kairos volunteers have experience in renewal movements
within their churches which focus on small group dynamics, share and prayer
groups, personal witness and vulnerability in Christian community. It is a
continuing ministry. The primary objective of the three-day short course is to
prepare selected residents for life in an ongoing Christian community.
Kairos is currently being presented in six institutions in Western Washington:
Washington State Reformatory at Monroe, Washington Corrections Center for Women
at Purdy, McNeil Island Corrections Center, Clallam Bay, Stafford Creek, and Pine Lodge. In addition, Kairos
Outside is offered to women who have loved ones who are or who have been
incarcerated. The purpose of Kairos Outside is to demonstrate God's grace and
love through Christian support.
If you would like to participate in Kairos, or would like more information,
